Meet 22 year old Hassan Al-Saba a female pilot from the caribbean country of Jamaica. She just recently got her Pilot’s license and it has made her the first Female Muslim in Jamaica to be a licensed pilot.
According to Travel Noire, Hassan is currently being celebrated in her country Jamaica and around the Muslim world for being the first Jamaican Muslim woman to achieve such fate in the country's history. Hassan has described her achievement as "surreal". She took her flight test on August 25 and earned her license four days after.
Why the Muslim world is celebrating this feat achieved by Hassana is because, Jamaica is a Muslim minority country. Islam was brought to the shores of Jamaica and the Caribbean by the African slaves during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
Meanwhile, the Pilot's License received by the young woman is a confirmation that all her hard work had paid off and that the first step towards her dream career had been fulfilled. Her dream is to fly for a commercial airline soon and she intends to persevere until she reaches her dream.
Hassana Al-Saba said: “I couldn’t believe that it was me on the TV and in the paper, but it has sunken in and now I really hope that I have inspired others and emulated our motto of ‘Out of Many, One People.’ I’m a proud Jamaican and I hope I can show my people that dreams are within reach.”
Hassana Al-Saba's achievement began as a childhood dream. She enjoyed flying from Jamaica as child to visit her grandparents who are residing in Trinidad and Tobago.
