Read: Taraba State and it 40 Plus Tribes; Which Tribe do you belong to?

Taraba State was created in 1991 out of the old Gongola State by the Military Administration of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on 27th of August, 1991.

The first governor of the state was Rear Admiral Adeyemi Ambrose Afolahan who was a Military Administrator. And the first Civilian Governor was Rev. Jolly Nyame. And its current governor is Arc. Darius Ishaku who has been the governor since 2015.

Taraba State is blessed with both Natural and Human Resources as it nickname is Nature Gift of the Nation. Taraba State has the highest number of tribes in Nigeria but this claim is unconfirmed.

My tribe is number 39 on the list which is "Shomoh" or "Shomo". The Shomoh people could be found in Wukari (Gidin Doruwa), Lau (Shomoh Sarki, Shomoh Kila), Karim Lamido LGA (Usumanu, Shomoh Ngbai, Tonga), Ardo Kola LGA (Shomoh Gali and Shomoh Tawa) etc.

Shomoh people are farmers, hunters, and fishermen. They are predominantly, Muslims and Christians with a proportion of them being traditionalists.

Let's eliminate all forms of tribal, communal and religious crises in order to move our state forward.
