16 Ways to Calm Yourself When Life is Getting Tough

Tough times are parts of man's daily life which we can't escape. Once in a while bad or unforseen circumstances do happen to us disorganizing us. Sometimes it is caused by our actions and inactions. Some of these problems are avoidable while some are unavoidable.

However, it is important to note that tough times don't last, they are temporary. Therefore, instead of worrying ourselves about it, you should rather focus on figuring a way out of it.

Here are some steps to take in calming yourself instead of worrying:

1. Cry: crying helps in releasing all that stress and emotion you are going through. You will feel better when you cry.



2. Walk: Walking helps in clearing your mind. It offers us a different perspective. Therefore, when it's getting tough just take a walk down the street.

3. Self-talk: Talk to yourself in a positive manner. Statements such as 'I can do it', 'I can withstand it', 'I am strong', etc, helps in boosting us mentally.

4. Educate Yourself: Research about the situation you are into or experiencing. Arm yourself with knowledge and the resources to tackle the problem head-on.

5.Be Generous: Give something out to a total stranger. Acts of giving makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside. It makes us feel relieved and more better.

6. Take a day off and do exactly what you want or what you want to achieve personally.

7. Sleep: Get enough rest and sleep for at least 6-7 hours each night. Getting enough sleep will make you feel better, relaxed and replenish your strength.

8. Revisit your old hobby and if you do not have, create one for yourself.

9. Be silly: Do something you did as a child. Don't take life too seriously all the time it will help you feel relieved.

10. Visit a coffee shop or a busy street and soak up yourself with the sorroundings. You don't have to talk to people, be quiet and enjoy the scenery.

11. Prioritize: Decide what is important right now or at the moment. Say no to extra obligations.

12. Remind yourself that life is a journey. Remember that what you are going through is temporary and it will soon be thing of the past.

14. Journaling: Develop a habit of journaling. This will help in freeing your mind.

15. Keep going forward: keep taking small steps, no matter what the situation is. Being stagnant doesn't serve. Try making a move.

16. Write down the list of your strength.

17. Prayer: Always make it an obligation to pray both in your bad or good day because prayer is the key to everything in life.
