This day, May 5th, 2010 President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua (Matawalle) died in Aso Rock Presidential Villa after battling with acute pericarditis. He died at the age of fifty-eight (58).
Yar'Adua was the first elected Nigerian President to die in office and the second Head-of-State to die in Aso Rock after General Sani Abacha in 1998.
Late Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, who was the younger brother of late General Shehu Musa Yar'Adua the then Vice President of Nigeria during the General Olusegun Obasanjo's Military Government was a former Governor of his state, Katsina State for eight years from 1999 to 2007.
He was elected as the Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2007 with Goodluck Johnathan as his running mate.

Late Umaru would always be remembered by Nigerians both home and abroad as a honest, selfless, and a humble leader who had his people at heart.
Yar'Adua died fighting for the betterment of Nigeria and its people. He indicated this through his 7 Points Agenda.
Yar'Adua is responsible for the relative peace the Niger Delta Region is enjoying now by initiating the Ammnesty Programme, the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs etc.

He died trying to find lasting solution to Nigeria's Electricity Problems.
President, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua holds the record of the first President of Nigeria to have willingly declared his asset to the public.
It is pertinent, to say that Umaru Musa Yar'Adua did a lot as a president to improve Nigeria as a Nation and the life of it citizens despite his health challenges which eventually led to his death on May 5th, 2010.
Today, it's is exactly 10 years that Almighty Allah took you away from your family, Nigeria and Nigerians but your legacies still lives on, as Nigeria and Nigerians would always remember you. May the mercies of Almighty Allah continue to be on your soul.
