Activist, Mubarak Bala's Arrest: Why the Meddling?

Activist, Mubarak Bala's Arrest: Why the Meddling?

On the early hours of Monday, 29th of April, 2020 Nigerians woke up with the news of Activist, Mubarak Bala, the Humanist being arrested in his residence in Kaduna by the Nigeran Police Force for blasphemy and had been moved to Kano State, his state of origin where he would be tried in an Islamic Court.

According to report by various mass communication platforms he would be charged to Islamic Law (Shari'ah). This development had drawn a lot of reactions and backash from the public; with some tagging Islam with all sort of names which I wouldn't mention here for personal reasons.

However, what attracted me most are these statements that; "That Nigeria is Secular State", "there is freedom of speech or expression and there's freedom of association"

Yes, Nigeria is Secular State; according to my understanding of Secular, this means Nigeria is country with many faiths and relegious believes, but it doesn't mean people of other faiths should meddle and interfare in another's religious doctrines just the way Nigerian Christians are doing. They are quick to jump into conclusion in meddling in an issue that is related to Islam and Muslims while on the other hand a Muslim never does that.

We all agreed that there is freedom of speech and expressions but I want to know where it is or it was stated that you should abuse other people's religion and relegious symbols. Yes, Article No.: 17, in the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that we have the right to believe, to have a religion, or change it at will, never did it said that, we should Disrespect, Insult or Abuse other people's religious figures or symbols even if we've decided to change our religion as Mubarak Bala did but you people are complaining, what an act of Hipocracy!

Article 18 of the same Universal Declaration, states that we have right to our minds, think what we like, say what we think and to share our ideas with others. But, the question I have for Mubarak Bala's supporters is that, was it stated that he should insult or abuse other people's religious figures because he had made up his mind?

Mubarak Bala who is a self acclaimed Activist, Humanist and Atheist doesn't even know the true definitions of the Humanism he is claiming, yet some people are in his support because this issue is related to Islam and Muslims, this is so pathetic and all these backlash is because the name of Prophet, Muhammad (PBUH) him is involved.

According to the Holy Bible, even Jesus (PBUH) was accused of blasphemy when he declared the divinity of God and was almost stoned death by the Jews as stoning to death is the punishment for blasphemy according to their law.

Yes, we all have our religious differences but no sane Muslim would ever insult or disrespect another person's religion most especially 'Isaa' (Jesus) PBUH and Christianity despite the disparities between Islam and Christianity as both are Abrahamic faiths.

Islam love and respect Jesus PBUH as a Prophet of God but we would not support anyone who disrespects or insults him. Why the order way round and whenever Prophet, Muhammad PBUH is disrespected some people starts celebrating and defending the person.

Conclusively, let's learn how to respect each other's religion and how not to meddle in other people's religion.
