What Do You Know about Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji the Ekiti State Governor Elect?

The people of Ekiti State have spoken through their vote at the just concluded Governorship Election held on the 18th of June, 2022 by electing Chief Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. Biodun Oyebanji before hi election as the in-coming Governor of Ekiti State was a Secretary to the Ekiti State Government.

How is Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji?
Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji is a Nigerian politician and currently the Governor Elect of Ekiti State on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC). He was a former lecturer and an ex-Secretary to the Ekiti State Government. The in-coming Governor was born in December, 21 1967. He is an indigene of Ikogosi-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria.

He began his Primary Education at Baptist Primary School, Ikogosi-Ekiti, old Ondo State, Nigeria. After his primary school he then proceded to Awo Community High School before moving to CAC Grammar School, Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti in 1979.

He has a degree in Political Science from the Ondo State University which was obtained in 1989, now known as Ekiti State University. He then proceded for Master’s in Political Science from the University of Ibadan (UI), and graduated in 1992.

In the years 1993 to 1997, Biodun Oyebanji worked as a lecturer at the University of Ado-Ekiti, Department of Political science and also served as the Secretary to the Committee for the Creation of Ekiti State. He also held the position of a Manager for the defunct Omega Bank PLC now known as Heritage Bank. A position he held until May 1999.

Biodun Oyebanji has held several political posts and offices, some of which are:

On the 8th of June 1999 he was appointed as the Special Assistant of Parliamentary Affairs to the Ekiti state Governor.

He was once the Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor from August 2000 to September 2001. Biodun later served as the Chief of Staff to the Ekiti State Governor from September 2001 to May 29th 2003.

From June 2009 to December 2010 he was chairperson for the Governing Board of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

He was the Commissioner of Integration and Intergovernmental Affairs, Ekiti State from the 23rd of December 2010 to December 2011.

December 2011 to 9th January 2013, he became the Commissioner for Transformation Strategy and Delivery of Head Office.

He served as the Commissioner for the Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Service delivery in Ekiti state between January 10, 2013, and October 16, 2014.

Governor Kayode Fayemi appointed him as the Secretary to the Ekiti Sate Government from 18th October 2018 to 2021. A position he relinquished in order to contest for the Office of the Governor of Ekiti State. 

He became the Governor Elect of Ekiti on the 19th of June, 2022 after a Governorship Election held on Saturday, 18th of June, 2022.

Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is happily married to Professor (Mrs) Oyebanji who is an Associate Professor at the University of Ibadan and primcess. They are a blessed with a number of children.
